A web ring is a continuous loop of different web sites dedicated to the same topic. On each site there are Next and Previous buttons that take you from one site of the ring to the next. This makes it very easy to navigate through all sites that are dealing with the same matter.
The first Afirca Twin web ring was setup in 1995 by using our own, selfmade technology. It was a free service to the Africa Twin community on the web. Quite a few months later we decided to continue the service using the free technology of webring.org. In these days webring.org was a great free service and it was very helpful to use this service instead of coding things on our own.
However, during the last years the service was renamed to webring.com and has changed ownership, layout and technology for several times, while there were no real new innovations introduced.
Finally in 2005 webring.com service has become more commercial. One either has to pay for the service or accept ad banners on the ring pages. Even worse, I as the ring manager are requested to login to their systems once every two weeks even if there are no changes to be done. Otherwise I will loose ring ownership.
Since these facts contradict ATiC's policy of being free from advertising and since I am also not willing to accept the strange administration policy of webring.com I have decided to quit with their service.
The Honda Africa Twin web ring may be adopted by another ring manager who is willing to accept the new policies, but I would ask you to do this in the form of an "Africa Twin webring" and not as a web ring managed from or related to the "Africa Twin Internetional Connection (ATiC)".
We appologize for any broken navigation links this decision might bring. Thanks for your understanding.
